The Lorain Cougars participated in the Cincy Shootout hosted in Cincinnati, Ohio April 3-5. The Cougars were able to advance to the finals on Sunday by defeating the Cincy Knights 11-8. The win against the Knights advanced the Cougars to the semi-finals to play the Indiana Progeny. The Cougars were able to pressure the ball and cause turnovers against the Progeny. The Progeny made a late run but fell short, final score Lorain Cougars 15 Progeny 9.
The Lorain Cougars lost in the finals to the Indianapolis “INDY” ALL-STARS 13-12. The Cougars led the whole game only to lose on a breakaway layup with less than 10 seconds to play. Cougars Coach Pedraza stated” that we started out slow on the first day of the tournament but we were able to turn things around with tough defense and intensity. Im okay with the loss, our kids did everything that they were asked to do, they were a bigger,faster team. We have to learn how to make adjustments quicker and we have to start our next tourney with the same kind of intensity that we finished this one with”.
